AOI Summer BBQ
October Events~
Hope you all are having a good first couple weeks of the quarter! This month will have a fun field trip to the Pumpkin Patch. Two weeks from now on the 22nd of October we will go look at all the pumpkins on display! Traditionally people buy pumpkins and carve funny or scary faces on them. The pumpkins are hollowed out and a candle is placed inside so it would glow orange at night. These are called Jack-O-Lanterns.
Another Halloween custom regarding pumpkins is cooking the seeds in different seasonings, sweet or savory, then munching on them as a snack. Oven-bake them or saute them in a frying pan and they will make a delicious bite to eat. It makes a good appetizer for any Halloween party and you can look up many recipes online!
Friday the 29th of October AOI College of Languages is throwing a Faculty and Student Halloween Party!! The staff will be dressed up in Halloween Costumes! You don’t want to miss it! Find a funky costume and come party at AOI with your teachers and friends.
Sincerely,
Sara
Summer Junior Program!
Right now over the summer many junior students have arrived to enjoy our summer program for kids. With ESL classes in the morning and Host Family arrangements the students are set to enjoy the California summer for a few weeks. Many field trips are planned in the itinerary including Disneyland, Universal Studios, the beach and shopping expeditions! I will be overseeing many of the field trips for the junior program so I will post the pictures I take~
Teacher Jeremy with students!
Every summer we arrange many fun things for kids to do while learning English as a second language. Irvine is a great environment for students of any age to come to America. We provide the accommodations and supervision needed for a safe learning experience.
Sincerely,
Sara
First day of class! :)
Today is the first day of Summer Session (I) here at AOI College!
Hopefully you all had a wonderful time on your break but now it’s time to focus on school and reuniting with classmates and teachers. There are a few new teachers in our staff this quarter to accommodate the growing number of students. It is so exciting to see all the students showing up for class on the first day. This quarter their are two classes for Intermediate and Advanced, make sure to find your name on the posted list to find which classroom you are in. Good Luck!
Sincerely,
Sara
Baseball Field Trip!
Last week’s field trip to the famed Angel’s Stadium in Anaheim was reported to be a success! I updated the ‘Field Trip Pictures!’ Tab so check it out to see pictures of students and teachers who attended.
Everyone had such a great time at the game. The Angels didn’t have their best play but for Seattle’s fans it was a great win! The funnest part was hanging out with classmates and teachers outside of school. Sign up with your friends for the next Field trip which I will let you know when and where later. The tickets are discounted when you buy through the school so next time join us!
Field trip every month!!
Sincerely,
Sara
Ichiro VS. Matsui
Next Friday the 28th, AOI students and teachers are going to an exciting game of baseball at the Anaheim Angels Stadium. It is Angels vs. Mariners and baseball fans are excited by the two opposing Japanese players going head to head. The Japanese are big baseball fans as well and two remarkable Japanese players are playing in the US baseball league, Matsui and Ichiro. 24 students and teachers combined have opted for this rivalry game. Baseball games in America are known for the peanuts, chili dogs, and beer. There is nothing more fun than a game with a friendly rivalry and yummy snacks. I was thinking of going to the game as well but tickets sold out real fast! There’s a field trip every month so ask about it early to sign up on time~
Sincerely,
Sara
